On Friday evening 19 March 2010 you are invited to join us in launching our 13th Festival with a community parade. We will be making our joyous musical way through the Yackandandah township, after the launch of the Musicality exhibition at Spiritus Gallery at 5.30 pm.
Yackandandah Community organisations, groups and individuals of all descriptions are encouraged to join the school kids and the visiting festival performers in the parade with banners, festival music and art, and an enthusiastic sense of community celebration.
The opening parade will see a mix of festival performers, school children, community organisations, Bhutanese and African Union communities all parading and performing together to the festival site alongside shady Yackandandah Creek. The weekend will then kick off with a community bush dance.
The theme for the 2010 festival is Harmony. This will be celebrated from the spectacular opening parade to the many workshops, concerts and dances and into the closing moments when the local 100 voice Yackandandah festival choir will gloriously lift the roof off the stadium and the Tibetan monks will dissolve the sand that they used for 4 days to create an intricate mandala.
